about
Scott is a dynamic and results-driven creative professional with over 17 years of experience in graphic design and art direction, and 4 years experience in creative direction. He's deeply passionate about bringing truly good ideas to life, helping a brand discover its full marketing potential, and using his talents to make the world a better and more compassionate place.
Originally from South Florida, Scott began his career in New York City in 2006, when he discovered his passion for design. Immediately after attending CUNY's Hunter College, he landed a position in the art department at Here Media for Out & The Out Traveler magazines. Just a year later, Scott was promoted and moved to Los Angeles to join the team at The Advocate magazine as the Associate Art Director. It wasn't long before he was given the rare opportunity to produce his first award-winning cover for the reputable publication, which was named as one of TIME's "Top Ten Magazine Covers of the Year."
By 2011, Scott had earned his way to being named creative director of The Advocate Group, overseeing the photography and design in The Advocate and HIV Plus print editions and their respective news websites. Only 25 at the time, he was the youngest person to hold this position in the magazine’s 50-year history. His redesign and rebranding of both publications helped earn The Advocate three consecutive wins at the GLAAD Media awards and three nominations for Cover of the Year by the American Society of Magazine Editors.
While creative director, Scott also helped expand the company's marketing initiatives through in-house print advertising and social media. Launching the magazine's official Instagram and tripling the number of followers on Facebook and Twitter to over 400,000.
In 2012, Scott and his friend Chris founded The Stigma Project— a nonprofit organization to combat both stigma and the lack of education around HIV. The organization used attractive branding, top-of-the-line marketing and highly effective advertising to reach its audience. For several years following, Scott played a pivotal role in the organization's growth and success, speaking on a panel at The White House and being awarded the Key to the City of West Hollywood.
More recently, Scott has worked freelance on an exciting array of marketing and branding projects. Every project different than the last, but each one shares his deep passion for design. This work has provided Scott with incredible hands-on experience in print, interactive, and motion graphics. His work on projects for pharmaceutical giants, global charity organizations, mobile applications, and feature films is where he shines.
Currently, Scott is seeking full-time employment, where he can continue to excel and even grow, as a creative. To do what he loves, and do it well. He currently lives in New York City with his dog-like cat 'Butler'.
